The Evil Dead franchise first graced the big screens in 1981, paving way for a myriad of gory and twisted tails to further explain the universe behind the film. Following a 20-year break, the reboot movie Evil Dead resurrected the franchise in 2013, and now in 2023, fans are excited to worship yet another masterpiece entitled Evil Dead Rise. With two weeks until the latest installment premieres here’s everything we know so far.

Who will make up the cast?

Unfortunately, none of the cast from any predecessors of The Evil Dead franchise are returning for this new installment. However, we’re pleased to welcome Alyssa Sutherland will be joining the cast as Ellie, a mother of three, and Lily Sullivan as her estranged sister Beth, who will be the main character. The rest of the characters include Bridget (Gabrielle Echols), Danny (Morgan Davies), Kassie (Nell Fisher), Jessica (Mia Challis), Scott (Tai Wano), Gabriel (Jayden Daniels), and Jake (Billy Reynolds-McCarthy).

What are some plot details?

The newest updates and trailer reveal that the fifth film in The Evil Dead franchise takes the Necronomicon and the Deadites to the wider world, much like Ash vs. The Evil Dead. The story starts with Beth visiting her sister Ellie and the kids, to discuss her pregnancy. However, since Ellie’s apartment building sits on top of where an old bank used to be—home to a vault that contains the Necronomicon—after an earthquake strikes the area, the book is discovered and the terror is unleashed. Fans can expect gore and a downright bloody affair.

Doesn’t that sound exciting?

When will Evil Dead Rise premiere?

Evil Dead Rise will be available to watch in theatres on April 20, 2023.
