Unless you live and breathe the genre, and possess a crypt bursting full of horror movie collectibles, for most people, the spooky season begins with the start of fall. However, another way to mark that Halloween is fast approaching is when you see a once vacant building that has recently erected a Spirit Halloween sign. While these pop-up shops are popular for the droves of last-minute shoppers, our store guarantees better selection year-round with great deals for those who want to properly celebrate the spooky season in style. Needless to say, this blog is about something bigger than a competing shop. It’s about this seasonal retail company’s venture into the world of filmmaking. Yes, Spirit Halloween is a new film expected to be released this October. What is it about? Continue reading to find out more.

What can we expect from the Spirit Halloween plot?

While there’s no word on Elm Street that any horror movie collectibles will be making a debut before the release of this film, there’s a lot that we do know about Spirit Halloween. The flick will surround the mythology of Halloween and center around the beloved pop-up store. Noted as a family-friendly adventure movie, the plot revolves around three middle school friends—Jake, Carson, and Bo—who decide to spend their Halloween night locked up inside the spooky Spirit Halloween store that unexpectedly opens up in a deserted strip mall (these shops always pop up somewhere unexpected!). Finding themselves trapped inside, the group quickly discovers that the store is haunted by an evil spirit that can possess all of the creepy animatronic characters. If the kids can’t defeat the unrested spirit before the stroke of midnight, they may also run the risk of becoming possessed themselves.

What other details do we know so far?

“The script is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up from The Goonies, Gremlins, Monster Squad and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment”, said producer and president of Strike Back Studios, Noor Ahmed.

Written by Billie Bates and directed by David Poag, Spirit Halloween is set to star Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That), alongside Brad Carter (Ozark), Marissa Reyes (Raven’s Home), Dylan Martin Frankel (Life & Beth), Jaiden J. Smith (Two Sentence Horror Stories), Donovan Colan (Chapelwaite), and Maria Gibbs (The Jeffersons).

Here’s to hoping there weren’t many keeners that purchased animatronic characters so there are more creeptastic jump-scares to expect with the lights down dim.
